The Sublime Experiment jewelry collection is filled with sculptural lightweight pieces that embody "the meaning of inner beauty arising from trust and empathy," according to the designer. Made using non-precious materials, namely Velcro hook-and-loop fasteners, the Sublime Experiment collection shows that people can easily transform the mundane and ordinary into something that can be considered extraordinary.
Designed by Yong Joo Kim, a Korean jewelry designer based in Providence, Rhode Island, the Sublime Experiment collection is hand-cut, hand-assembled and hand-sewn. The collection is comprised of earrings, rings, bracelets, necklaces, and brooches. Kim was inspired to create such meaningful jewelry after growing up surrounded by promotions of superficial beauty in Seoul, the world's top destination for plastic surgery.
