Trader Joe's took inspiration from Middle Eastern stuffed meatballs to create Trader Joe’s Kibbeh, which consists of an inner mixture of ground beef, onions and seasonings that's wrapped in breading and fried. The outer portion of the meatballs is made from a combination of cracked bulgur wheat and ground beef, which creates a meaty outer layer.
To make it as easy as possible to prepare the stuffed meatballs at home, Trader Joe's fries the Kibbeh in sunflower oil before freezing the meaty bites, so that they can be boiled or baked as desired.
Naturally, the stuffed meatballs pair well with a variety of Middle Eastern-inspired condiments like tahini or creamy tzatziki, both of which Trader Joe's has already produced its own versions of.
