The team at BD Barcelona has created the newest take on the Stedelijk Chair, first designed by Sabine Marcelis. The original chair brought attention to color and form, and the chair was first presented in a highly curated palette of white, beige, black, brown, and vermilion.
The new iteration of the chair is refreshed with a bright palette across the silhouette, which makes it stand out even with its obscure structural form. It was commissioned for the Stedelijk entrance hall, bar area, and sculpture gallery. The model also delivers a dual purpose that reflects the ongoing conversation between utility and art, which defines the museum it's located in. Late last year, the chair debuted at the Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam.
