Although you may feel isolated while listening to music alone in your room, Spotify Serendipity points out that you may be sharing an experience with someone else, as far away as another continent. Kyle McDonald's concept links up listeners from around the world by using Storm for analytics, enabling relationships to be discovered in real-time between total strangers with the same taste in tunes.
Spotify Serendipity searches for matches as two users begin to listen to the same song within a tenth of a second of each other. When you go to the website, you're presented with a global visual of a world map, marked with the two locations of the pair, plus the name of the track and its artist. It's a reminder that the Earth has become an interconnected community, even as you sit on your own.
