The symmetry and simplicity present throughout the Sports Shadows photo series is stunning. No wonder it was recently selected for the Creative Review Photography Awards. Like the popular retro minimalist posters that have been popping up everywhere lately, the Sports Shadows focuses greatly on abstract imagery and color.
Shot by Kelvin Murray, a photographer based in London, the Sports Shadows photo series centers on athletic games such as tennis, cricket and ping pong. Since all of these sports require nets in some form or another, the dividing line paints an interesting picture. It is almost as if the Sports Shadows photo series plays with two different realities, one in which the impossible is made possible and the other in which the everyday occurs. Either way, it is magical.
