As a platform, Spotify has strongly embedded itself in the daily life of consumers, especially when it comes to the Gen Z and Millenial demographics, and its most recent acquisition is intended to develop a flagship sports audio network, which is sure to diversify the platform's content offerings.

From music streaming to podcasts, Spotify is dedicated to bringing its listeners content that knows no boundaries in terms of genre. Earlier this year, the popular platform purchased former ESPN commentator Bill Simmons' sports and culture site—The Ringer—which has 30 podcasts on its roaster. As Spotify hopes to create "the world's flagship sports audio network," this move is quite strategic since "The Ringer [has a] proven track record of creating distinctive culture content, as well as discovering and developing top-tier talent."
