The Sony SLT-A77 is a camera that blazes a new path for Sony as they retire their d700 mirror-based digital SLR in favor of one that makes use of the newest technological developments in the field.

The Sony SLT-A77 is powered by Translucent Mirror Technology and sports an OLED electronic viewfinder that allows a consumer to preview each photograph at high-resolution and a 24-mega pixel APS-C size sensor.

Sony's brand new Translucent Mirror Technology contains a semi-transparent mirror that allows for incredibly fast autofocus, even in the video setting. The Translucent Mirror Technology is impressive in its advancements and versatility. A Tracking Focus feature captures quick movements in focus and a new electric front shutter curtain cuts down the lag-time to the equivalent of a high-functioning DSLR, a staggering 50 milliseconds.

The Sony SLT-A77 is be available in October 2011 and will cost about $2,000 USD.
