Queer Storytelling Sculptural Lights

Leo Maher Designs the Something Sticky Series of Lights

British designer and artist Leo Maher presents the Something Sticky series, which is comprised of sculptural lights that tell stories about homosexuality. It is set to be part of the Alcova exhibition during Milan Design Week. The series kicks off with a fake mermaid followed by a flower dressed in drag, to name a few.

His work was made with a wide range of materials including ceramic and aluminum or even objects found that were fused with other items such as palm tree fronds or sunglasses lenses. Maher explains the design process and the inspiration, stating "Stories of queer pasts are just as likely found where we might least expect them. Recognizing the tears and breaks that exist in the ordinary, [that is] the unpredictable key to our map for discovering hidden queer gold."
