Social media e-commerce is emerging as the business of the future, connecting brands personally to people through platforms like Facebook. The social media giant has been making the move to e-commerce for a while now, however, with a new program they are introducing to select users, they will be finalizing this shift. Facebook is adding a shopping section that's directly integrated in its home page layout and takes active users to a brand's products without even switching sites.
Since so many people have shifted from computer to mobile use, brands are partnering with Facebook to do the same. The shop section will allow 'Pages' to have a wider array of products and eventually provide the option to "buy" through Facebook without traveling to the retailer sites, which take longer to load. Social media e-commerce is faster and more accessible, reducing drop off rate and increasing sales.
