Facebook 'Discover' Finds Groups of Like-Minded People to Talk to

Facebook is introducing a new way its users can communicate with like-minded people with a social media chat platform called 'Discover.' The service diverges from Facebook's original messaging service by letting users seek out strangers to converse with based on similar likes and interests. Users can find other Facebook users that share a love for photography, travel, sports, books and more and connect on the topic to start a conversation.

The added feature uses the user's geotagged location as well as their interests marked in their profile to suggest 'Groups' with similar people to connect with. While this is an automated process, Facebook does allow for users to search for people through groups manually as well.
