Amazon India Launches Smart Stores Run by the App

Amazon in India utilized QR code technology to run its in-person shopping experience at Smart Stores. The physical locations navigate payment processes using virtual performance to limit any contact. The Smart Stores launched in June of this year in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Customers are invited to scan a QR code using their mobile Amazon app. They can then shop for the products they want to purchase and complete their transaction with Amazon Pay. Additionally, local shops can allow Smart Stores to use Amazon Pay coupons to attract more customers and reoccurring customers. They can also incorporate incentive discount vouchers, loyalty points, interactive virtual storefronts, and more. The entire shopping experience is contactless due to digital billing and offers convenience.
