A group of scientists and engineers over at the University of Texas at San Antonio have developed an innovative new smart stop sign that is designed to take advantage of the latest display and smart technologies to enhance safety on the road.
This smart stop sign is fitted with infrared sensors that can detect the path and distance of the vehicle based on its heat signature. It then uses that data to flash a red light to alert drivers who may be at risk of running the sign.
The sign has been shown to have an accuracy rate of 90 percent when it comes to detecting vehicles. What's more, it can be powered by solar panels, making it an eco-friendly and safe way to enhance road safety.
