The Ear-o-Smart is a smart earring, developed by Canadian company BioSensive Technologies, that looks like conventional earlobe jewelry but has a high-tech twist -- it is designed to function as a fitness tracker.
What's unique about the Ear-o-Smart is that unlike the vast majority of fitness tracking devices and smartwatches, it's not a masculine looking device and is primarily aimed at women.
The device is able to track heart rate, calories as well as activity level. It connects with both iOS and Android smartphones via Bluetooth 4.0. Placing the tracker near the earlobe is claimed to provide more accurate readings than wrist-based trackers.
The developers of the Ear-o-Smart have taken to Kickstarter to raise funds for its production. Bid prices begin at $110, with the first units set for shipping in June if the campaign hits its fundraising target.
