Skydio recently revealed the 'Skydio 2 Dock' system, which allows drones to self-charge. The company is attempting to allow other organizations to have drones in the air for extended periods of time, with little to no human intervention. Skydio has indicated that the Skydio 2 Dock system should be available to consumers at the beginning of 2020. The company did not indicate a price point, but it did state the system would be more accessible than other similar services.
The system uses internal and visual navigation in order to land on a charging pad that is able to charge the drone, and also transfer data using either Ethernet or WiFi. The charging dock can fit into a suitcase for transportation, and can be set up in minutes.
