The SiriusXM Soundwaves MusiCounts Community Fund is Supportive

SiriusXM Canada has contributed $500,000 CAD to the SiriusXM Soundwaves MusiCounts Community Fund — a grant program that distributes up to $20,000 each to 27 nonprofit organizations. The fund is intended for the purchase of musical instruments, equipment, and essential resources for music programs. Young people up to the age of 25 who face social, economic, cultural, geographic, mental health, or accessibility barriers are eligible for support from this program.

SiriusXM Soundwaves MusiCounts Community Fund seeks to support equity-deserving communities like Indigenous youth, Black youth, newcomers, and those with financial or physical challenges. The geographic diversity of recipients — ranging from the Northern Village of Beauval in Saskatchewan to the Dawson City Music Festival Association in Yukon to the Boys and Girls Club of Preston in Nova Scotia — demonstrates that the fund prioritizes rural and remote communities that are often overlooked by cultural funding that clusters in major cities.
