In an effort to raise awareness and funding for the Ontario-based children's hospital SickKids, Airbnb has partnered with the organization to launch SickKids Airbnb -- a social impact experience. The listing showcases the need for funding to update the infrastructure and highlights the lack of privacy and comfort that patients and families are confronted with.
During the three-hour stay at SickKids Airbnb, guests will experience all the sights and sounds that surround the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at SickKids including sharing a room with up to six other patients. However, according to the listing "there are only three single beds so four guests will have to sleep on chairs." Guests are also encouraged not to bring any personal belongings due to the extreme lack of space.
100 percent of the funds used to book the SickKids Airbnb experience will be donated to the children's hospital.
