Shoe Obsession is an exhibition that has been going on from February 8 through April 13, 2013 at the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York.
The gallery explores the interesting shift in today's fashion statements. While shoes and accessories used to be secondary concept in fashion that complemented the clothing, they are now undeniably the signature elements of most outfits.
"Shoes occupy a very special place in the female imagination," says Valerie Steele, director and chief curator of the Museum.
Parallel to her statement, the exhibition showcases incredibly extravagant and unusual shoe designs from a number of designers. These unlikely designs take all forms of fantasy from Noritaka Tatehana's fairy tale-inspired Lady Pointe shoes to Janina Alleyne’s nightmare-inducing Exoskeletons.
