Shipping Container Housing Development

AHMM Works on an Affordable Housing Project in Oklahoma

A shipping container housing development is on its way to being a reality in Oklahoma City, USA. Dubbed 'Squirrel Park,' the project is headed by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM) and it will feature a total of four two-bedroom homes.

Shipping containers have become a popular construction tool for architects as the volumes lend themselves to modularity and customization, are easy to maintain, and quite affordable, as well. When it comes to the details of the project, their use makes perfect sense. Squirrel Park is commissioned by a restaurant owner in the area who "believes in second chances." The shipping container housing development is intended to offer comfort to individuals who have been incarcerated or who have had a rough go at life.
