Traer Scott, a photographer who started volunteering with a animal shelter, was entrusted with the task to take snapshots of dogs for internet adoption sites. Knowing that not all dogs leave the shelter, she wanted to memorialize these ill-fated canines and thus started her Shelter Dogs photography series and book.

Her Shelter Dogs series truly captures the essence of a what it feels like to be a be shelter dog. These beautiful and proud four- legged friends are not ashamed to keep their heads held up high despite their circumstances. By looking at their eyes, they mask an untold story and a flicker of hope for a better future.

The associated book, Shelter Dogs, features 50 pictures of these emotional captures. All proceeds from Traer Scott's book will go towards the non-profit organization ASPCA and can be purchased from its website.
