The ShapeScale Takes Precise Measurements Through 3D Scans

Many products on the market offer consumers new opportunity to use data analytics in the quest for fitness, and the ShapeScale is perhaps the most impressively futuristic of any yet. The device looks like a bathroom scale with an arm protruding from it, but that arm is really the heart of the gadget. The ShapeScale is a body scanner that creates 3D digital images of users, allowing them to get incredibly accurate digital measurements for tracking their fitness goals.

The ShapeScale does indeed offer weighing, so that initial guess isn't completely off base. As the scale takes a weight measurement, the scanning arm (which contains a camera) spins around the consumer several times, generating a digital avatar with precise measurements for different body parts.
