The Shanghai Train Inn is an interesting interpretation of what can be done with unused railcars. The design by KUU uses old cars from Germany (sleepers) and ones from China (the dining section of the train), and transforms them into a functional hotel design.
According to DesignBoom, "the outdoor furniture is designed as part of the landscape with bent pipe light fixtures integrated with brick benches and timber tables." However, the main focus is to remain on the inn itself, as this is the most dynamic part of the design. Everything is extremely rustic, with so much attention to detail so that guests are sure to be impressed with both the history behind the inn, but how everything was put together with so much thought and precision by KUU Design.
