Adding an Extra Dimension to Shadow with Computer Graphics

— November 16, 2009 — Art & Design
Some fascinating Technology will be introduced at the 2nd Annual 2009 ACM SIGGRAPH Asia, Pulse of Innovation Conference taking place December 16-19 in Japan. One Presentation, an amazing new computer model, adds a dimension to the 2D Shadow Art we are familiar with.

The Developers, Niloy Mitra and Mark Pauly use a famous Andy Warhol painting as one of their Shadow Art examples to demonstrate the computer modeling design capability. “A seemingly random vowel soup embedded into a glass cube creates three distinct shadow images.”

It will be interesting to watch the architectural designs that emerge from this new computer graphic technology.
