Muirhead Debuts the Sensation Collection

Muirhead, a Scottish aviation leather supplier, has introduced the Sensation collection. This new venture aims to promote accessibility for neurodivergent individuals in aircraft cabins through various strategic color and texture design decisions. For the development of this capsule, the brand sought insights from neurodivergent individuals and collaborated with disability consultancy VVIA.

Muirhead's Sensation collection features a calming palette of greens, blues, and neutrals, along with bespoke leather embosses, natural materials, and thoughtful textures for aircraft seating. Through this, the brand hopes to facilitate a soothing and inclusive onboard environment.

The project highlights the need for a balance between functionality and aesthetic appeal in cabin design, moving away from medicalized or infantilizing approaches. Muirhead will showcase Sensation at the Aircraft Interiors Expo, aiming to inspire CMF designers and simplify the supply chain by offering completed seat covers to the industry.
