Modern Therapeutic Seating Design

Reflect is a Therapeutic Chair Made to Help with Anxiety

Reflect is a therapeutic chair to help with anxiety by transforming seating into a mindful, sensory experience. Designed by New York-based furniture designer and architect Tanuvi Hegde, the piece uses a warm cherry wood frame with an oil finish alongside a hand-stitched leather sling seat and cushion. Its most distinctive feature is a small steel ball bearing embedded in the armrest. The user is invited to roll the ball back and forth, generating a gentle vibration and soft sound that turns sitting into an interactive, calming ritual. This tactile element serves as a focus point for grounding and mindfulness, helping to ease anxiety through subtle sensory interaction.

The balance of materials, including wood, leather, and steel, reflects thoughtful craftsmanship and a commitment to emotional well-being. The cherry wood offers warmth while the leather supports the body, combining comfort with design integrity. Rather than a static object, Reflect becomes a companion that supports presence and emotional connection in daily life. It embodies a future of furniture as both functional and therapeutic, inviting users to slow down and reconnect with their senses.
