The Ocasco Was Designed to Emulate the Setting Sun

The Ocaso is a sculptural candle snuffer that that was inspired by the soft glow of golden hour.

Nothing is quite as mysterious and ominous than the soft glow of a candle coming to an abrupt extinguishing. This small device adds extra elements of visual stimulation to that simple and predictable act. The tiny triangular design was crated in 3D-printed porcelain and is comprised of a rough texture with a ribbed interior -- when upright, the texture was designed to emulate the setting sun. Appearing most defined by candlelight, the snuffer maintains a pseudo light source that remains after the candle has been put out. This was made possible through the pieces' integration of both smooth and rough surfaces, which create a "visual game that is only revealed when the object is lifted."
