A 3D scanner system traditionally requires proprietary cameras to scan objects, but the '3Digify' is intended to help change this. Currently funding on Kickstarter, the '3Digify' system works by allowing makers to scan objects using their existing camera equipment. This downplays the needs of having a camera and/or a projector for scanning objects for digital manipulation and/or 3D printing.
The '3Digify' scanner system, if successfully funded, will feature a bevy of functionalities that will be available for free to users. The ability to obtain a CAD file format for a scanned object, for instance, would be cost-free. '3Digify' would also be partially open-source to allow makers to fine-tune their capabilities with the software. A small monthly fee would allow access to other functionalities.
