This Satellite Company Factors the Internet of Things into Its Expansion

UK-based satellite company Immarsat declared publicly that it will be making its platform for voice and broadband services accessible for all developers. The company wishes to expand its consumer base, which is currently comprised of individuals in remote areas without regular network access, to include users who are constantly connected.

Immarsat's CEO explained, “We have been providing global mobile connectivity for decades and want to leverage this position to facilitate the development of new applications, enhancing the way in which people interact with our technologies."

The company's first efforts will concentrate on Global Express, a Ka-band high-speed broadband network with global reach. The network was originally conceived to service in-flight airline broadbands, as well as terrestrial customers.
