Sapore Dei Mobili Responds to the Overabundance of Contemporary Design

According to the project's web page, Sapore Dei Mobili "was born as a reflection about the velocity of the contemporary furniture industry, and how the consumers are unable to digest the huge amount of new products launched every year."

The artist has a point, as there is a constant influx of modern furniture developments that consumers are exposed to on a daily basis. Like technology, what is new and modish in regards to architecture and interior design soon becomes passé, as emerging artists and companies reveal their upcoming installments.

Sapore Dei Mobili (tasting furniture) addresses this issue by combining traditional Japanese small cakes with a Portguese egg-based pastry. The result is a handheld mold of a variety of different furniture pieces, which is used to create edible treats. This is furniture that you are able to wrap your head around.
