This Simple Recipe Celebrates a Traditional Indian Dish

The 'Food52' blog put together a recipe for an unexpectedly salty yogurt drink. Lassi is a yogurt-based drink that is extremely popular throughout India. Although traditional lassi is salty, the sweet varieties are more common outside of South Asia.

This recipe celebrate the delicious yogurt drink in its original form by using salt instead of sugar. The base of the drink is made form plain yogurt, which is seasoned with mint leaves and slices of fresh chilies. The dish is then finished with salt, white pepper and a little bit of cumin. Although the idea of a salty yogurt drink may sound unusual, the taste is relatively mild.
