KLAFS S1 Sauna Expands from a Compact Unit into a Full Enclosure
The KLAFS S1 sauna is a retractable wellness unit developed by German manufacturer KLAFS, a subsidiary of Kohler. The system is designed to compress into a compact form roughly the depth of a standard cabinet, then expand into a full sauna enclosure at the touch of a button. When extended, the structure increases to approximately 160 centimeters in depth, providing space for two to three users within a single unit.
The sauna uses an automated extension mechanism that unfolds the enclosure in around 20 seconds, with integrated benches and headrests positioned within the interior. The unit is equipped with KLAFS’ SANARIUM system, offering multiple climate modes that adjust temperature, humidity, and airflow. Exterior finishes include matte black and walnut, paired with a wood-lined interior and glass elements that allow the structure to integrate into residential spaces. Controls are embedded within the system to manage extension, lighting, and climate settings.
