The entire piece does actually rotate like the real puzzle, but it only does so horizontally; therefore, don't bother trying to solve it. However, makendo has said that there's a mind-bending challenge in the furniture. People will actually have to find the hidden locks in order to open up the drawer; so if you have something important, putting it in the Rubik's Cube might not be such a good idea.
