Preserved Townhome Concrete Facades

Rieder Joins Faerber on Preserving an Original Structure

Austrian facade expert Rieder joins hands with architecture studio Faerber on a special project that worked on preserving the original build of a townhouse. To do so, the duo installed a three-dimensional concrete facade in Mainz, Germany for better reinforcement. It is supported by copper paneling as well and this makes it more sturdy by lowering the overall ecological footprint of the building.

Partner of the studio, Fabian Faerber notes, "The new facade's material stands in contrast with the somewhat shabby neighbourhood and thus poses a challenge for it to keep up in terms of its architectural design. The exposed precast concrete elements and the copper elements in turn establish a connection to the high-quality building fabric of the old town."

Three-dimensional Concrete Facades
Incorporating three-dimensional concrete facades in building projects can improve reinforcement and add architectural design elements.
Copper Paneling in Architecture
The use of copper paneling in architecture can provide both structural support and enhance the overall aesthetic of a building.
Preserving Original Building Structures
Preserving the original build of a structure, especially in historical or shabby neighborhoods, can present architectural design challenges and opportunities for creating connections to the old town's fabric.

Where This Applies

Architecture
The architecture industry can adopt three-dimensional concrete facades and copper paneling techniques to create modern and visually appealing structures while preserving historical elements.
Construction
Building construction companies can explore the use of three-dimensional concrete facades and copper paneling as innovative methods to reinforce structures and reduce their ecological footprint.
Historical Preservation
The field of historical preservation can benefit from the trend of preserving original building structures and integrating new materials, such as three-dimensional concrete facades and copper paneling, to enhance the architectural design of old townhouses.
