Uber has become the latest ride-hailing platform to require drivers and riders to wear a face mask, which will take effect on May 18th. The ride-hailing platform will also introduce a safety checklist, which will be provided to drivers in the United States, Canada, India, and regions in Europe and Latin America.
A checklist will also be sent to riders through the app. The list consists of asking them to wear a mask and sanitize other wash their hands. Uber also introduced a feature that riders and drivers can cancel rides without a fee if the other party did not follow the safety checklist.
The company released a statement on the new policy, “Drivers and riders who repeatedly violate mask policies risk losing access to Uber.”
