Ski Gondola Sculptures

The Revisiting a Swiss Icon Exhibit Focuses on Iconic Swiss Cable Cars

Switzerland may be best, or at least readily, known for the Swiss Alps, which is reflected in the Revisiting a Swiss Icon exhibit. It revolves around seven retro ski gondolas. The iconic Verbier cable cars were going to be dismantled by ski company Televerbier. Considering that they are around 40 years old, that shouldn't come as a shock.

Nevertheless, Albert Schrurs, an architect and co-founder of Verbier Mountain Climbers, along with Inès Flammarion and Nicolas Bernheim, decided to invite a group of seven enterprising Swiss designers to give them a second lease on life. Thus, the Revisiting a Swiss Icon exhibit was born. Whether the boxy, hexagonal shell was taken apart or filled with objects, their interpretations are entertaining.
