Industrial Thermal Spaces

Recess Thermal Station is a Hydrotherapy Bathhouse in Montréal

Recess Thermal Station is a communal wellness space in Montréal’s Griffintown district that combines hydrotherapy with an industrial interior language. Designed by Future Simple Studio, the venue centers on a guided 75-minute thermal circuit that moves visitors through a sequence of temperature-based experiences. The journey begins with a cleansing ritual using Aesop products before transitioning into hot, cold, and recovery zones arranged to encourage contrast and sensory awareness. The layout is structured to support shared use while maintaining a calm, deliberate flow.

The newly crafted interior is made using materials such as aluminum lattice, glass blocks, stainless steel, cedar, and slate to create a tactile environment influenced by water, steam, and light. A circular cedar sauna anchors the hot zone, followed by a blue-lit communal cold plunge designed for group immersion.
