Intel integrated its RealSense camera with a neural network to create a new facial recognition system named RealSense ID, which could be implemented in smart locks or at ATMs.
Intel stated that its RealSense ID system could be able to account for a user's facial changes over time, and it could also work if the user had facial hair or glasses. Intel stated that the system will work reliably with different lighting conditions, where authentication will only take a few seconds. Additionally, the company said that the system will respect each user's privacy, where it will only process photos locally and is only active after user input. Intel also stated that RealSense ID will encrypt user data.
