The RCA 2014 Photography Book Explores Science Fiction

The RCA 2014 photography book explores themes of science and fiction, subjects which were collectively decided upon by the participating Royal College of Art students. Rut Blees Luxemburg, the book's editor, explains, "This year it turned out they were all very much concerned with science and fiction; science in terms of how technology and photography are developing, and fiction in terms of narrative, story and language."

The students wanted to make sure the text coordinated with the images, so the writers were given access to students' DropBox filer as they worked on their images. The result was that the two separate processes of inspiration were entwined.

Overall, the book offers the students an opportunity to think of their work within a larger scope and context. Moreover, it allows them to contribute their voice to an ongoing artistic discourse.
