Rapid COVID-19 testing has now been approved by many health officials and businesses are in the process of considering it as something to offer guests as a service. For airlines, this makes sense—especially since the industry has been so strongly impacted by the outbreak.
According to Reuters, German airline Lufthansa is incorporating the rapid COVID-19 testing as part of their passenger package. Launching in October, the test will be initially made available to first-class and business-class guests. The reason for this is due to the limitation of test availability. Bjoern Becker, the company’s senior director for product management, also mentioned that Lufthansa is considering to open testing sites at airports in the United States and Canada.
“The speed at which testing capabilities are advancing tells us that we will have deployable options in the coming weeks,” shared Alexandre de Juniac, director and CEO of the International Air Transportation Association.
