Random Shelving By MDF Italia

I wish I could express the beautiful patterns this shelving system makes when the owner puts his or her books onto this shelf. At first glance, you might be saying, “OK. It's shelves:NEXT.” But wait. MDF Italia has made a couple of subtle design maneuvers that make all the difference in the world. First, the shelves are quite tall. Their height help create a sort of second wall, a field of shelves, that is necessary to dematerialize the furniture. Second the shelves are very thin and white. The white edges and background give a base that let the books pop out from the shelves giving the books a perfect frame. And finally, the random pattern of the individual shelf heights creates a rhythm (almost musical composition) with the books. I'm ordering these immediately: after I get rich and move into my modernist dream home.
