Gucci's New Rainbow Creepers Celebrate LGBT Pride Month
Katherine Pendrill — June 7, 2016 — Fashion
This year, Gucci is celebrating Pride Month with a pair of sky-high rainbow creepers. Not only do the colorful platforms give consumers a chance to channel their favorite 90s style icons, but they also help to show support and raise awareness for LGBT rights.
The rainbow creepers are part of Gucci's 2017 Resort collection, which was presented at Westminster Abbey last week. The sky-high platforms are reminiscent of the popular creepers worn by club crawlers throughout the 1990s. In order to make the platforms appropriate for Pride month, creative director Alessandro Michele covered the shoes in colorful rainbow motifs that draw inspiration from the iconic LGBT flag. To underscore Gucci's support for Pride Month, Michele even tapped actress Soko to take over Gucci’s Snapchat account with inclusive messages such as 'Blind for Love.'
