The Spring/summer 2018 Editorial by PLEASURES is Sketchy and Youthful
Kalina Nedelcheva — March 16, 2018 — Fashion
For its Spring/Summer 2018 fashion collection, titled 'Freaks in LOVE,' LA-based contemporary wear brand PLEASURES explores the dimensions of 90s grunge, metal and punk street culture from a youthful perspective. The silhouettes boast relaxed and nostalgic designs with direct stylistic references to the socially perceived run-down movements. For example, the head-to-toe checkered suit with a full-back patch, that advertises the company's logo and boasts graphical representation of a bull terrier, is an unmistakable nod to punk street culture.
In addition, the fact that 'Freaks in LOVE' is presented in the context of gritty city scenes, further builds onto the unapologetically grunge aspect of the editorial. Some of the images are slightly distorted as well, which ties the 2018 collection to the dream-like state of youth.
