Samsung's interdisciplinary collective Think Tank Team works on its Project Afterlife initiative. It was announced last year originally, when the team addressed the growing issue of technology going to waste, forming a concept that turns unused phones into artifacts.
It breathes new life, taking the phones and turning them into a piece of decor that sits on a shelf or bedside. The latest design blends a smoky clear recycled plastic that is formed in the shape of an arc. It is then detailed with a recycled brass knob as a tactile interface. It also leverages the device's preexisting internal accelerometer and gyroscope sensors to now work as a tabletop clock that changes interface as it rocks around.
