At Art Basel in Switzerland, Nothing revealed the design of its inaugural smartphone phone (1) to a private audience. As Carl Pei, CEO and Co-founder of Nothing, says, "For years now, it felt like all the artists had left the industry. All we're left with are cold, unexciting and derivative products. It was time for a fresh take." The artful smartphone features a transparent back, a unique mechanical design and more than 400 components. The design of the device was inspired by
artists like Massimo Vignelli (who designed New York's subway map) and brought beauty to complexity.

With a 100% recycled aluminum frame, the phone is both lightweight and durable and more than 50% of the phone's plastic components are made with bio-based or post-consumer recycled materials, which makes the phone a standout across the industry.
