Demountable Wooden Retail Spaces

Architecture for London Designs Present & Correct's New Space

Local design studio Architecture for London creates an interior space for stationary retail store Present & Correct in London. It is defined by gridded details that are inspired by 'wunderkammer' cabinets of curiosities. The studio adds the bespoke joinery and storage unit for the shop which can be found in central London's Bloomsbury. There, it sells vintage and new stationery from all over the globe.

Director of the studio Ben Ridley tells Dezeen, "Rather than building the joinery around the existing building, we treated each unit as a freestanding cabinet. In the long term the interior needs to adapt to multiple environments; the current shop has uneven floors, to accommodate this the cabinets have adjustable feet concealed within a recessed plinth, while slender legs appear to be bearing the weight."
