IKEA's Latest Practical Furniture Range is Made Entirely from Paper

IKEA is currently developing a practical furniture collection that is made exclusively from paper. Although paper may seem like a fragile material choice, this far-fetched idea will produce a diverse range of modern furniture pieces for the Swedish retailer.

The main type of paper used to create its pieces is re-purposed pulp, which can be molded and shaped in a variety of ways. IKEA's eco furniture range will feature an array of pieces like sofas, chairs and tables. Despite possible skepticism from the public, Designer Maja Ganszyniec ensures shoppers that the material used from pulp is extremely durable. The process of creating the practical furniture is not too different from the process used to make egg cartons from pulp but is executed in a much more intensified and thorough manner.

IKEA is attempting to create a line of furniture that is durable and practical while promoting sustainability. The paper furniture collection is set to launch in May 2017 and will be sold at an affordable rate.
