Exploring her life and her family dynamic through her 'Persona' portrait photography series, Romy Kaa portrays various life stages using herself as the subject.
Recently a new mother, the photographer was inspired to take a look at the matriarchal family portrait, working with her mother and her newborn daughter in variously staged and candid poses. The connections between the images demonstrate a connection between the generations, showing that even as a person ages, they stay the same. The series can be viewed as one woman's journey from birth to old age, or it can be viewed as a single family unit going through the bizarre and inevitable journey of life together.
The Romy Kaa 'Persona' portrait photography series analyzes innocence, birth and rebirth with the use of religious symbolism throughout.
