Glamorous Pop-Up Speakeasy Experiences

Raffles Hotel Le Royal Has Launched Mindy's

Raffles Hotel Le Royal recently debuted Mindy's — a pop-up speakeasy operating from May 7 to May 31 in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. This exciting activation is tucked behind an unmarked door and inspired by the glamour and intrigue of 1920s to 1940s New York.

Mindy's features dim lighting, vintage decor, live jazz and swing music, a dedicated cigar lounge, and bartenders in character who bring the prohibition-era fantasy to life. The pop-up speakeasy offers a special cocktail menu with creations — from the Sky Masterson's Lucky Flight, which is finished with a flaming orange peel, and the Miss Adelaide's Lament made with raspberry liqueur, to the Nathan Detroit's Hustle cocktail featuring cherry candy, and a non-alcoholic option called the Reformer made with ginger beer, lime, and mint.

Nostalgic Immersive Pop-ups
Blending period-specific design, live performance and secretive formats creates possibilities for venue formats that blur hospitality, theater and museum-like experiences.
Theatrical Cocktail Storytelling
Cocktails presented as character-driven narratives and dramatic finishes open avenues for beverage experiences that prioritize storytelling, sensory spectacle and collectibility.
Secret-location Marketing
Unmarked entrances and limited-time windows amplify exclusivity and scarcity dynamics that can be leveraged to generate high-margin, time-bound demand cycles.

Where This Applies

Luxury Hospitality
Curated, ephemeral spaces within established hotels suggest a shift toward in-house branded micro-venues that attract new guest segments and premium pricing.
Craft Beverage and Mixology
Artisanal cocktail programs incorporating theatrical techniques and non-alcoholic alternatives point to product lines and service models that extend beyond traditional bar service into retail and experiences.
Live Events and Experiential Entertainment
Producer-driven, immersive events with period authenticity indicate opportunities for modular entertainment formats that tour, license or franchise unique themed experiences.
