These fun and colorful landscapes of cities are made from poker chips. This way Chinese artist Liu Jianhua can be sure not to loose his currency. I guess that the phrase “the city is built on money” fits well in this context.
The cityscape is apparently a replica of Shanghai. I don’t know if gambling is big out there, but my guess is that there is some kind of social or political comment in building a city out of poker chips and dice. Anyhow it looks as impressive as it is detailed.
The Poker chip artwork is part of a solo exhibition by the artist at Galleria Continua in San Gimignano, Italy.
