Indee Design, a Montreal-based interior design studio founded by Florence Charron, has completed the Plateau Kyoto Residence. This renovation project, located in the Plateau Mont-Royal neighborhood in Montreal, Canada, transforms a compartmentalized single-family home into a luminous, fluid sanctuary for a young family. At its core, the design blends Japanese minimalism with mid-century influences and Montreal warmth.
As part of this project, Indee Design repositioned the staircase to expand the living space and establish a seamless connection between the ground floor and upper level. The Plateau Kyoto Residence now fully opens onto the garden, creating a soothing continuity between indoors and outdoors that serves as an end-of-day retreat. All furniture was custom-designed to precisely meet the occupants' needs while integrating seamlessly with the architecture — from a suspended bench in the extension that appears to float in front of the window to a wall alcove designed to house a bonsai.
