Plastic Whale Makes Furniture Out of the Waste Collected from Canals

While efforts to remove waste from the ocean continue to dominate the eco-friendly design world, one company, called Plastic Whale is seeking ways in which that waste can be re-purposed after its been removed from bodies of water.

Described as the “first professional plastic-fishing company in the world,” Plastic Whale creates circular office furniture out of the waste that's removed from Amsterdam's canals. The brand's current eco-friendly furniture line consists of table, chairs, a lamp and more, all of which feature a unique aesthetic that's sure to appeal to lovers of whimsical design and environmentally friendly products. To pay homage to its roots, each product's design takes on a shape that's inspired by the water - like Whales, or a starfish.
